This time, I selected work from the permanent collection created during the 70s, 80s, and 90s, hence the title In & Around the 80s: Selections from the Permanent Collection of the Besser Museum. The exhibition features over 20 artists including Andy Warhol’s Black Soup Can, Dale Chihuly’s Seaforms, and large-scale paintings by Native American artist Peter Migwans.

Modern Art at The Besser

Modern Art at The Besser

I had the wonderful experience to curate a large exhibition from the permanent collection of the Besser Museum entitled, Modern Art at The Besser. The project took several months and included developing a 3-year strategic plan, creating an art advisory committee, researching the collection, selecting works for the first of three exhibitions, installing the art, and writing interpretive labels for each works.

The Besser Museum employees worked very hard and have completely transformed the Wilson Gallery into a professional art gallery space. This first exhibition in the space is able to shine due to their dedication and passion for art and education. I encourage you to support the Besser Museum and attend this exhibition as well as the others that will be up during this time, including the Annual Juried Art Exhibition (August 16–October 31).
